With the sudden push of water from Croton Dam being opened due to the sudden and large amount of rain. The flow at Croton Dam went from 1200 cfs to over 2500 cfs the river did get a bit muddy. We were still able to boat a few Salmon in jRead More...

The salmon fishing is very good in the Muskegon River. The early morning bite is still producing the best. The Salmon are still fresh but some are starting to get a bit elderly if you will. The fly fishing is picking up for Salmon on the upper end with some fish starting to show up on the gravel. The runs and deeper holes have been producing best for the fly anglers. The water has come up with the last bit of rain but more rain will certainly add to the numbers of salmon in the river anRead More...

This morning on a half day trip we hooked 5 nice Salmon on the Muskegon River. What a great way to start off the morning. Once the sun came up the bite did stop s did a lot of the Salmon movement. Our biggest succsess came on the candy cane Cotton Cordell Big O. This is a great bait and should never be over looked for Salmon.

9/21/09 Muskegon River Report

This morning we had 9 fish by 11 am. the early bite was best. we were fishing open seams and runs. The rain helped out a lot as it brought in a very fresh push of Lake Michigan Salmon. The bite was good early but did slow. The fish were not holding in the deep water as with the low light levels they seemed to be on the move all day.

The Salmon fishing on the Muskegon River is in full swing. The Muskegon is fishing better than the northern Rivers at this time. ( Manistee River and Pere Marquette rivers ) We have had really good days with the numbers of fish landed in the net has been close to but not exceeding 10 Salmon. Most of the fast action has come in the first 2 hours of daylight. Then the Salmon slow down and it requires patients and good casts into the cover. Look for the shade in the aftRead More...

9/7/09 - Muskegon / Pere Marguette

The salmon fishing is on now on the Muskegon River. We have had 4 days of really good action and it should only get better. With rain in the forcast this could prove to produce the mother load of Lake Michigan Salmon entering all the rivers in West Michigan. The fishing on the Manistee River has been good as well as on the Pere Marquette. We do have some dates left for September but they are almost filled. The run is earlier this year so don not hesitate or you will miss the action. This mornRead More...
