The salmon fishing is very good in the Muskegon River. The early morning bite is still producing the best. The Salmon are still fresh but some are starting to get a bit elderly if you will. The fly fishing is picking up for Salmon on the upper end with some fish starting to show up on the gravel. The runs and deeper holes have been producing best for the fly anglers. This morning on a half day trip we hooked 5 nice Salmon on the Muskegon River. What a great way to start off the morning. Once the sun came up the bite did stop s did a lot of the Salmon movement. Our biggest succsess came on the candy cane Cotton Cordell Big O. This is a great bait and should never be over looked for Salmon.

This morning we had 9 fish by 11 am. the early bite was best. we were fishing open seams and runs. The rain helped out a lot as it brought in a very fresh push of Lake Michigan Salmon. The bite was good early but did slow. The fish were not holding in the deep water as with the low light levels they seemed to be on the move all day.

The Salmon action in Lake Michigan is really picking up in close now. Today produced a limit of Salmon in 4 hours for 3 people. We started in 50 feet of water and never got deeper than 89 feet. Started 30 to 45 down and set lines as deep as 80 . The same Rapture flies have been producing daily. This morning we started with glow patterns and it was very good. The Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan is very good now as well. Good numbers of Salmon are being taken 80 to 120 feet of water. We are fishing within ten feet of the bottom. Our best luck is coming on the Silver Hypnotist behind a large coyote with the matching teaser flies, also the Oceana and the Frosted Fern. These are all trolling flies by Rapture Trolling Flies. The fishing on the Muskegon River is still excellent. It did slow a bit today with the high blue sky and the reduction of water in the river. We were still able to hook up with over 15 Steelhead in the past two days and this Beautilful Brown Trout. All taken on the fly. We still have some prime dates left as well as a cancellation.
